Echoes of Friendship 14"x 11" Oil Painting on Linen Panel

There’s something about the color yellow that has always lifted my heart. To me, yellow is more than just a bright hue — it’s the color of friendship, joy, and light. Yellow is the color of friendship, the kind that is true and honest and lasts a lifetime. Yellow lifts the spirit and fills the soul.

In my latest oil painting, Echoes of Friendship, I chose to paint two yellow roses in a simple glass vase. The way their golden petals catch the light - it's as if the petals were glowing from within - and  how the sunlight hits the side wall through an unseen window heats the room where the roses exist. I was after a certain mood in this piece - of quiet solitude and joyful warmth.

Yellow roses have long symbolized friendship, and I love that connection. To me, flowers are more than decoration; they carry meaning, stories, and emotions. In these roses, I see both the beauty of creation and the joy of companionship.

Roses are among my favorite subjects to paint. Each time I sit before them, I’m reminded that God created every petal, every shade of color, with a beauty that no artist can ever fully match. Still, I try — brushstroke by brushstroke — to honor His creation and share a little of that wonder through my art.
