There are no atheists in a foxhole, I heard a special forces military man say this and it stuck with me. For some reason, even the most cynical non-believer will turn to God or a higher power when they think their life is in danger. I was not raised in a religious family but I always felt a connection to a higher power. I call this higher power “God.”
This is the first day of 2018. If I make any resolution it will be to find time to become closer to my higher power. I don’t believe anything is possible without God’s help. I believe we are all connected to this power, this energy field, which turns dreams into reality and can manifest into your life anything that you can picture in your mind. Anyone who read the book The Secret will know what I am talking about.
When I was in my early 20’s I started to cross paths with the book “Illusions” by Richard Bach. It would be there when I walked into the college library. I would find a copy left on a bus bench. I came across three or four copies and so I finally picked it up and read it. That’s when I got it. The light came on in my head and I realized what my higher power or God was and I knew that I never wanted to be without that in my life.
So if you do decide to make a resolution maybe to lose weight, or to quit smoking I would suggest you put God into that equation. There is power in prayer and even if you’re one of those atheists it won’t hurt to ask your higher power to assist you in giving you the tenacity and resilience to keep going until you succeed in whatever it is you want to accomplish.
You atheists should give it a try
All things are possible with God. May 2018 be a year of adventure and personal growth…
