Jimi Hendrix is a 24” x 24” original oil painting that was commissioned for the artist to create. The collector wanted a psychedelic, colorful image of singer and musician Jimi Hendrix. James Marshall “Jimi” Hendrix was an American rock guitarist. His career spanned only four years but he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as “arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.”
Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 at the age of 27 years old. This painting reflects the1960’s during the psychedelic years of rock and roll when Jimi was at the top of his fame. Kristen used a large variety of colors for this piece: purples, reds, yellows, blues and greens. It is a portrait of the rock singer and musician with swirls of color and movement surrounding him. “I wanted to capture the psychedelic movement of that era. It was the time of Woodstock, San Francisco (Haight and Ashbury), purple haze, free love and drugs. It was an interesting time. Good or bad, drugs were what was happening in the 60’s. Unfortunately, a drug overdose took the life of this great musician, Jimi Hendrix. I created this piece to reflect the craziness of that time, the 1960’s.” This is a 24” x 24” original oil painting by Kristen.
