My Renoir is a romantic tribute to the painter Pierre Auguste Renoir. These are giclee prints of a 36” x 36” painting Kristen created in honor of one of her favorite impressionist artists, Auguste Renoir. This is done in a more contemporary or modern style with touches of impressionism. Renoir was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. He celebrated beauty and especially feminine sensuality. Impressionism was a 19th century art movement that originated with a group of Paris-based artists whose independent exhibitions brought them to prominence during the 1870’s and 1880’s. Impressionist style includes visible brush strokes, open compositions, and putting down on canvas the perception of a subject not necessarily focusing on what the object actually looks like.
“I love the way Renoir painted women. He used wonderful colors, high contrast with the use of solid blacks, and he depicted women in a very romantic way. To make this painting more personal for me, I used a photograph of myself and transferred certain characteristics onto the woman’s face.
This is Kristen’s version of Renoir’s painting, “Dance at Bougival,” which he completed in 1883.” These are high quality giclee prints sized 36” x 36” of Kristen’s painting in honor of Auguste Renoir.
A limited number of 100 high quality giclee prints , numbered and signed, are offered for purchase.
