Cowboy pet portrait original art 11 x 14 inches oil painting on canvas in the style of contemporary realism. A dog painting commissioned by the owner.
Cowboy is an 11” x 14” standard animal portrait that Kristen creates when a pet owner wants to have their beloved pet’s image placed onto a canvas in oil paint. This was “Cowboy” a beautiful Pit Bull Terrier that was owned by a woman in Southern California. He was the sweetest dog ever and did not have a mean bone in his body.
Cowboy would lick a person to death he was such a sweetheart. When the owner lost him to an unfortunate accident, she wanted to have a painting made to hang up in her home so that she would always remember him. From a photograph Kristen starts by looking at the picture and putting those first paint strokes onto the canvas. “I get a feel for what the animal is or was like. I pick up on their personality and I put that ‘feeling’ onto the canvas. I hope to capture their essence.”
Kristen is an animal lover. This soft spot for dogs definitely comes through in her animal paintings. “My father, who was also an artist, gave me his love for animals. When a baby bird fell out of its nest, my dad and I would care for it. He taught me a deep respect for nature and all living things. I have always had dogs as pets. Along with dogs I have had birds, lizards, fish, an iguana, cats, rabbits, hamsters, mice and a variety of other critters. That love for animals definitely came from my dad.”
Kristen does animal and pet paintings by commission. Please message her with any inquires.
