In My Next Life I Want to be a Crow, or The Raven is an 18” x 36” original abstract oil painting on 1 ½” thick heavy canvas
In My Next Life I Want to be a Crow is a 18” x 36” original abstract oil by Kristen. There are two titles for this piece; “In My Next Life I Want to be a Crow,” and the simpler one, “The Raven.”
Kristen has said that in her next life she would want to come back as a crow. “Crows are such survivors and as birds go they are quite smart. I have seen a crow drop a nut on a road and wait for a car to come by to run over it and crack it open for them. These birds are scavengers which means they eat just about anything.
No one really bothers them much. They have that stigma about them because they are black and kind of scary looking. Crows supposedly carry the souls of human beings who have passed on. People mostly leave them alone.
There are not many predators that hunt or eat them and of course they can fly! How cool is that?! Who wouldn’t want to be a crow? I was watching a crow on a gray, drizzly day, perched at the top of a large, winter barren tree and I knew I had to paint it.
It was teetering on a thin, spikey branch making its cawing sound and I decided that I had to paint the black bird in an abstract style. Abstract lets you paint strictly with your subconscious.
Whatever comes out onto the canvas is a surprise.” This oil painting is an original piece painted by Kristen. She will be offering original one of a kind abstracts to collectors.
