Splashed in Sunlight is a piece that I attempted to capture the way sunlight spills in through a window and causes itself to bounce off the flowers to create beautiful reflections in a glass vase and across the table where the roses sit. Here I am exploring the subject of light and glass and roses. I am mesmerized by the shapes and colors of the lights and darks that distort and look abstracted - which then I attempt to capture on a flat linen panel. For me it is the greatest way to spend my time, painting these colors and shapes with paint. This piece is titled Splashed in Sunlight because that is how the sunlight feels. It seems to be splashed as if cast by a bucket over the flowers and table top with a window allowing the sunlight in and the roses to be drenched from the behind with the sunlight, causing reflections in the glass vase, creating dark shadows and colors to be reflected on the table that the vase and roses sit upon.
